Apparently I’m a Hidden Gem: My VoyageKC Interview + a Newsletter You Might Be Missing
Apparently I’m a Hidden Gem.
At least according to VoyageKC. 😄
VoyageKC recently featured me and Dunham Bookkeeping Services, and it gave me a chance to talk about something I don’t spend a lot of time talking about here: me.
Before you keep reading, go check out my VoyageKC interview, and while you’re at it, join the DBS newsletter. I send one newsletter a month with practical bookkeeping, accounting, tax, and small-business information, plus free resources you can actually use.
No daily emails. No endless sales funnel. No scary accountant language.
A little more of the story behind DBS
Most of what I share here is about the work.
Bookkeeping. Taxes. Payroll. Cleanup projects. Nonprofit reporting. QuickBooks doing something ridiculous.
The VoyageKC interview gave me a chance to talk more about the person and business behind all of that.
Running Dunham Bookkeeping Services has changed a lot over the years. The services have grown, the types of clients I work with have evolved, and I’ve gotten much clearer about the kind of work I enjoy doing.
One thing hasn’t changed: I want financial information to make sense to the person who actually owns the business.
You shouldn’t need an accounting degree to understand what is happening in your own books. You also shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions because someone might make you feel stupid for not knowing the answer.
That philosophy has shaped pretty much everything I do at DBS.
Also, I seem to have been keeping my newsletter a secret
This was not intentional.
I talk about the blog. I post on social media. I send plenty of emails to clients.
Somehow I regularly forget to mention that there is also an actual DBS newsletter.
It comes out once a month and includes bookkeeping and tax reminders, small-business information, things I think business owners should know about, and occasional updates from me.
There are also free resources available when you sign up.
Because I am firmly in the camp of “give people something useful,” not “give me your email address so I can send you seventeen messages asking you to buy something.”
You can sign up for the newsletter here, grab the freebies, and stick around for the monthly email.
And if you’re curious about the person behind all the QuickBooks cleanup, tax returns, 990s, spreadsheets, and strong opinions about proper bookkeeping, you can read my VoyageKC interview here.
There’s a whole person over here behind the calculator. :)
