Tax preparation for small businesses, nonprofits, and individuals
Clear tax prep without the filing-season panic
Tax season doesn’t have to feel like a scavenger hunt through old emails, missing forms, and mystery numbers. Dunham Bookkeeping Services provides tax preparation for individuals, small businesses, partnerships, S-corps, and nonprofits, with a secure process that keeps you informed before anything is filed.
Based in Merriam, Kansas, and serving clients virtually, DBS helps make tax filing clearer, calmer, and better organized from the start.
Training & representation
I complete IRS-approved continuing education through the Annual Filing Season Program, including the Annual Federal Tax Refresher course and exam. The IRS describes the AFSP as a voluntary program for return preparers who complete continuing education, renew their PTIN, and receive an Annual Filing Season Program Record of Completion.
What that means for you:
I stay current on filing-season updates, federal tax law, and ethics. As an AFSP participant, I may have limited representation rights for returns I prepare and sign, generally before certain IRS employees such as revenue agents and customer service representatives. If your situation requires broader representation, such as Appeals or Collections, I’ll let you know when another tax professional is needed.
Current filing-season education
IRS-approved continuing education helps keep return preparation aligned with current tax updates.
Clear ethical standards
Tax prep should be accurate, supportable, and explained in plain English.
Limited IRS support when available
For returns I prepare and sign, limited representation may be available within IRS rules.

How tax prep works
1. Book a fit call
We’ll talk through what kind of return you need, whether your books are ready, and what documents may be required before I can quote the work.
2. Complete the intake form
You’ll complete a secure tax intake form so I can identify income sources, deductions, filing needs, and anything that may require follow-up.
3. Upload your documents securely
You’ll use a secure upload process for tax forms, statements, prior returns, notices, and bookkeeping records. Please don’t email sensitive tax documents.
4. Review and approve before filing
I’ll prepare the return, ask questions as needed, and send it to you for review. I won’t file until you approve the return in writing.
5. File and follow up
After approval, I’ll file the return when e-filing is available and provide next steps for payment, records, estimates, or follow-up items.
Why clients choose DBS for tax prep
Tax prep should be accurate, organized, and easy to understand. I focus on clear communication, secure document handling, and returns that are prepared from supportable information. If something looks off, I’ll ask questions before I file. If your books need cleanup first, I’ll tell you that too.
No scary tax jargon. No mystery filing. Just a clear process, secure document collection, and a return you get to review before anything is submitted.
Ready to make tax season less chaotic?
Tax preparation begins after a signed agreement, completed intake, and receipt of the documents needed to prepare your return. If your records are incomplete, cleanup or catch-up work may need to be completed before filing.
TAX SEASON FAQ

For most returns, I need your complete tax package at least one month before the filing deadline. If your documents are not complete by then, I may recommend filing an extension so we can stay compliant and avoid rushed work.
-
Most returns are completed within about 10 to 15 business days after I have a complete document package and all follow-up questions are answered. More complex returns, missing information, cleanup needs, or peak-season volume may extend that timeline.
-
Yes, multi-state returns and K-1s can usually be handled. Additional states, schedules, business activity, rentals, and K-1s may increase the fee based on complexity.
