Meet Sara – Bookkeeper, cleanup problem-solver, and the person who actually reads the details.

I’m Sara Dunham, owner of Dunham Bookkeeping Services in Merriam, Kansas. I help therapy practices, nonprofits, and service-based small businesses clean up messy books, stay organized month to month, and understand what their numbers are actually saying.

I started DBS in 2020 after more than 20 years of experience in accounting, business operations, and human resources. That mix matters because bookkeeping is rarely just data entry. It’s systems, communication, deadlines, workflows, payroll questions, tax readiness, and helping business owners make sense of the moving pieces.

My goal is simple: give you clean, accurate financial information without making you feel judged, overwhelmed, or talked down to. If your books are behind, messy, confusing, or just not useful right now, that doesn’t scare me. That’s the work.

Who DBS is best for

DBS is a strong fit for business owners who want clear communication, secure document sharing, accurate monthly bookkeeping, and honest answers. I work especially well with therapy practices, nonprofits, and service-based businesses that need organized financials but don’t want to live inside QuickBooks.

DBS may not be the right fit if you want last-minute miracles, unclear records, emailed tax documents, or unlimited support without a clear scope. I’ll always be kind, but I’ll also be honest about what can realistically be done.

Tools I use:
I’m comfortable working inside the systems small businesses actually use, including QuickBooks, SimplePractice, Bill.com, Gusto, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Asana, Calendly, and other day-to-day tools. The goal is not to make your tech stack fancier. The goal is to make your financial workflow clearer.

Credentials & Certifications

I stay current on the tools, rules, and workflows my clients rely on, especially QuickBooks. That means ongoing training, testing, and recertification through Intuit, plus continuing education in bookkeeping, payroll, small business tax, and client data security.

  • QuickBooks Online, Desktop, and Payroll Certified Platinum ProAdvisor

  • Verified Intuit and QuickBooks certifications backed by formal testing

  • Ongoing education in bookkeeping, payroll, tax readiness, and small-business best practices

  • Experience supporting therapy practices, nonprofits, and service-based businesses

  • A practical, real-world approach to keeping books clean, useful, and tax-ready

Meet the DBS compliance officers

DBS is proudly supervised by Lucy, Ethel, and Luna, three highly qualified office pets with strong opinions about keyboards, paperwork, and whether I’m allowed to work uninterrupted.

They don’t handle client files, approve tax returns, or reconcile accounts, but they do provide excellent moral support during cleanup projects and filing season.

These three take their responsibilities seriously, ensuring every report is reviewed with:

  • Judgmental stares

  • Surprise naps on the keyboard

  • Thorough tests to see whether your P&L report doubles as a bed

Think DBS might be the right fit?

If you’re looking for clear bookkeeping, honest communication, and someone who won’t make you feel bad about messy records, let’s talk.
